Inspiration

I've been having a hard time deciding on crib bedding and how I wanted to tie in all my colors. So I jumped into PSE for a bit and tested out some looks and I finally put together "my vision."

Now I just need to find actual fabric similar to this, but at least I know I want to stick with all grey. I like having the little color pop for the ties and my crib of course is bright blue. I love it!

I have decided on making bumpers but I think I'm just going to buy plain white ones and cover them. I found a good tutorial for this on Pinterest. 

The crib actually looks just like this bed. It was the inspiration behind painting the crib:

This is my January, stay busy before baby comes, project and I can't wait to get started!

An Update on Life

Since I haven't posted real words in a while I thought you might like a life update/ digital Christmas card/ or my time to talk about myself and how great my life is.

This year has been a big year for change.We got married, went to Hawaii, moved, started a new career, finished school, and are cooking a tiny human that will be here shortly. Everything has happened so fast, just the way we like it :)

I couldn't have asked for a better pregnancy. Everyone has been healthy, I never threw up, and I didn't turn into a cookie monster. Aaron, on the other hand has been so kind to eat all the ice cream drumsticks before I've had a chance to blame it on the pregnancy cravings. Thanks honey for taking one for the team and helping me keep my girlish figure!

I finished my Associates in Art Fundamentals and am so happy to have that out of the way just in time. Online classes are not my fav so at least I finished with BYU-Idaho so none of my credits will go to waste. If I ever want to go back (doubt it!) I can start back up a whole lot easier.

Aaron is awesome. He is the best husband I could imagine and is getting the hang of being an insurance man. He sings aMERiCAN FAmiLY INSURANCE! all the days, and is saving people way more money than that little salamander ever does. He comes home for lunch most of the days which makes me happy because I still get excited when we get to spend time together. He's been working long hours and it has definitely paid off. He's the ward Scoutmaster, coached a 10 year old flag football team, and is now coaching a youth basketball team through the boys and girls club. Just like my dad and Port Orchard, Aaron will soon be the man of Lake Stevens, getting to know everyone he can!

Our lease is up on our apartment this April so we are looking to buy a place to call home! More information on that to come, but we have so many options and things truly are falling into place. It's amazing to see what blessings you can get from doing the right thing. At the beginning of the year if I were to guess where we would be at by this time I would never imagined how all of this is possible. We have amazing supportive families, great friends, and an amazing ward.

My ward threw me a baby shower the other night and it was outstanding to see all the people who showed up (some I didn't even know quite yet). As Aaron would say "The village really did come together to raise this child."

We love it here and we love the way our family is growing. We're excited to see what the future holds and to welcome our soon to be favorite child into the world.

Glitter Taxidermy

One of the many projects I've started and gotten distracted by school, baby, or husband, BUT since I finished my degree today (insert high pitched squeal), I thought I would treat myself to some craftiness! 

First I spray painted my canvas black because I was sick of the painting I had on it and needed some new art. Then I looked up reindeer heads on Google and free-handed a mixture of my favorite ones. I didn't want it to be perfect, but you could print out a silhouette and trace it.

Then I cut out the silhouette and taped it onto my canvas so it wouldn't slip.

I took a paint brush and mod podge and starting from the paper working in (so you don't get glue up under your cut-out) and painted the canvas.

I DUMPED gold glitter all over the mod podge.

Then I took the stencil off

I shook the glitter around to cover any extra mod podge that wasn't covered

and I shook the rest upside down in the trash!

Super easy! Didn't take long! Inexpensive, since I already had everything! And I hung it on my wall next to my B's

I need to find a guitar, and learn this song.
